The efficiency of electric propulsion combined with the energy-density and power of diesel in a compact, easy-to-install hybrid. Max Hybrid combines both a serial and parallel hybrid in one compact, powerful drive.

Max Hybrid provides the speed and range boaters require while maintaining an enjoyable environment onboard. Boaters can use clean, quiet energy with an electric motor, and use a diesel engine as needed. Both the electric and diesel systems operate at peak efficiencies, making a hybrid without compromise:

  • Long battery run-time for motor-sailing or house loads
  • Minimal diesel engine run-time
  • Max Power for motoring at speed (parallel mode)
  • Max Efficiency for longer range than any other propulsion package

4 Modes of Max Hybrid:

  1. Serial (all-electric): low-speed
  2. Diesel: medium-speed + generation
  3. Parallel (electric and diesel): max-speed
  4. Diesel Generator: charging and house power

 

The diesel engine almost always operates at peak efficiency, whether charging and/or propelling, resulting in longer range and less run-time of the generator for house loads.

Parallel operation allows for a much larger propeller than diesel alone, resulting in higher efficiencies of the diesel engine throughout mid-range rpm.

The twin electric motors/generators quickly start the diesel engine at high revolutions without hesitation.
